Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 it is a warning to man, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 About the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 we fed not the needy, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
