The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
