The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
