The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Book written 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the swollen sea 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
