The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 Pharaoh replied, "Certainly, and you shall also become my courtiers." 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 So they were vanquished there, and they turned about, humbled. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the universe, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
