Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 and said, "He wants to expel you from your land." They asked (others), " what is your opinion in the matter? 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 The Pharaoh replied, "In addition to your rewards, you will become my close friends thereafter." 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 So they were vanquished there, and they turned about, humbled. 119 And the magicians were obliged to fall prostrate. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
