Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 who seeks to drive you from your land what do you command' 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 to bring thee every cunning sorcerer.' 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said: "O Moses! Either thou shalt throw [thy staff first,] or we shall [be the first to] throw." 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 they were defeated and turned belittled, 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They replied: 'We shall surely turn to our Lord. 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126
