Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
