In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 The command that We have been sending 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, if only ye would be convinced. 7 There is no deity save Him: He grants life and deals death: He is your Sustainer as well as the Sustainer of your forebears of old. 8 Yet they play about in doubt. 9 Then watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke. 10 engulfing the people; this will be a painful punishment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 Yet they turned their backs on him and said: One taught (by others), a madman. 14 Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert. 15 But on that Day We will assault them most mightily, and then We shall revenge! 16 ۞ And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, 17 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. 18 Do not consider yourselves above God. I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). 19 "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me. 20 "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: “These are a criminal people.” 22 'Then set thou forth with My servants in a watch of the night; surely you will be followed. 23 And leave thou the sea divided: verily they are a host to be drowned. 24 How many were the gardens, springs, 25 And fields and grand palaces! 26 And goodly things wherein they rejoiced; 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 and neither sky nor earth shed tears over them, nor were they allowed a respite. 29
