Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them (when they ate not). They said: "Fear not." And they gave him glad tidings of an intelligent son, having knowledge (about Allah and His religion of True Monotheism). 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 Then We evacuated there from all the believers 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
