The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
