And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Then We sent against them one Shout and they became like the trampled twigs of the (sheep) penbuilder. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
