The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a few from later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
