The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 on raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virginal, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
