The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
