▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And said: "What! When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74
