Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
