No, by the moon! 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Of evil-doers: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
