The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
