The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
