The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
