In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
