Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
