The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow in virtue? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
