The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
