The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 you pay attention 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
