He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
