The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
