The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Then where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
