The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
