The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
