The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
