Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
