Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city -- 1 in which you are now living 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 Or a needy person in misery 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
