The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
