The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
