The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
