The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
