When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
