The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 none can avert that. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Burn in its heat. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
