The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
