The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
