The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
