He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
