The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
