The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
