The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
