The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
