The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
