Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
